Morata reveals why he left Madrid for Chelsea

According to Football London, Alvaro Morata left Real Madrid for Chelsea because they did not play him in the big games.

After going back to Real Madrid from Juventus after a successful Euro 2016 campaign, Morata was expected to prove his worth at Los Blancos, but the competition from Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale saw the Spaniard left on the bench or out the squad for many games.

After being fed up, Morata joined Chelsea, despite everyone thinking he’d move to Manchester United, but with the arrival of Chelsea target Romelu Lukaku at United, Morata decided to join The Blues for more first-team football.

After a great start at Chelsea, the goals have started to dry up and he just recently came back from an injury on Monday.

Speaking before the clash in the FA Cup against Hull City, Morata said

I was not asking to be a starter with Madrid, I know that these players are something else, on another planet, But I didn’t play any Champions League ties, a match against Barcelona, against Atletico, Sevilla or Valencia. It would have been fantastic to play at Madrid but due to the circumstances it was not possible and that is not the end of the world.

Morata will be hoping to play in every game for Chelsea from now and to the end of the season, so his confidence is up for Spain’s World Cup 2018 campaign.

matchday.
