Arsenal block Chelsea move for Alexis Sanchez

According to the Daily Star, Arsenal will not sell Alexis Sanchez to Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.

Sanchez’s future at Arsenal has been in doubt all summer after he rejected a new and improved contract at The Emirates with Juventus, PSG, Bayern Munich, Manchester City and Chelsea all being interested.

However, with the imminent arrival of Neymar for a world record fee at PSG and Bayern Munich loaning Real Madrid’s James Rodriguez for two years they have stopped their interest in the Chilean.

As well, Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not want to sell his star-man to one of his Premier League rivals, like Chelsea and Manchester City, meaning they will have to look elsewhere.

Sanchez apparently wanted a move to City to team up with his former Barcelona manager Pep Guardiola but his dreams are now looking unlikely after this news.

Wenger has been adamant all of the summer that Sanchez will stay at The Emirates even though the player reportedly wants a move away from The Gunners this summer.

However, Wenger may have to cash in this window, with Sanchez being on the last year of his contract and looking unlikely to sign a new one, this means that any club can snap up the Chilean on a free transfer which would be awful business, meaning that selling him soon could be the option.

matchday.
