Sarri believes Hudson-Odoi can be ‘at the top’ in a few years time

Maurizio Sarri has insisted that Callum Hudson-Odoi has great potential to be one of the best players in world football, however he still has plenty to learn.

The 18-year old winger scored the third and final goal for the Blues on Thursday, as they beat Dynamo Kyiv 3-0 in a Europa League tie.

Hudson-Odoi has plenty of fans online who have been itching to see him feature in the first-team more often this season. Despite heavy interest from Bayern Munich in January, the England youth international remained in London, and Sarri was glad to see him stay.

Asked about Hudson-Odoi’s short cameo following the club’s Europa League win, as reported by Metro Sport, Sarri said:

He’s a very important young player. He is 18 and still needs to improve.

I don’t like if the press or the fans put too much pressure on him. At the moment he only has to think about improving.

It’s impossible to be at the top at 18. He needs to improve and then he will be at the top when he is 22 or 23.

matchday.
