Olivier Giroud will hold talks with Chelsea over the possibility of extending his contract with the club, the Evening Standard reports.
Giroud sealed a move to Chelsea from Arsenal for £18million in January, signing only an initial 18-month deal.
Marseilles had shown great interest in the French international in January and having missed out on the 31-year-old’s signature then, were hopeful that they would be able to bring him to the club this summer.
However, Giroud is wanting to remain at Chelsea and extend his stay with the club.
Giroud was asked if he ever considered joining Marseille.
No, I am happy here at Chelsea. I just arrived a few months ago and am just starting to settle well.
I still have one year (of my contract) to go with Chelsea, plus maybe another one. I’m going to discuss that with the club at the right time. There is no rush.
Giroud has also confirmed that both he and Eden Hazard have spoken to Lyon captain Nabil Fekir about a potential move to Stamford Bridge.
Fekir had been widely expected all summer to secure move to Liverpool, but that transfer broke down earlier in the window, with speculation now rife that he could instead join Chelsea.
Fekir was not a part of the Lyon squad that played Chelsea at Stamford Bridge last night.
I spoke to him when we were with the France team and his transfer to Liverpool was aborted.
After that, it was a question about Chelsea. Even Eden had a couple of words with him. We’d welcome him, he’s a great player and of course we’d welcome him with pleasure.
