Chelsea have launched a €50million bid to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, but it has been rejected by the Italian club, according to Carlo Laudisa of the Gazzetta dello Sport.
The news was announced via Laudisa’s Twitter account earlier today.

Chelsea, who are looking to rebound after finishing 10th in the Premier League last season, are reportedly in the market to sign a defender or two before the transfer window slams shut on 1st September. An ageing John Terry and an injured Kurt Zouma has left the squad with room for improvement ahead of the new season.
Antonio Conte’s knowledge of the Serie A has left Koulibaly, along with a host of other defenders from the league, on Chelsea’s radar.

Chelsea finished their pre-season campaign with a 4-2 victory over Werder Bremen, and will play their first match of the new Premier League season against West Ham on Monday night.
Now that an official bid has been submitted and rejected, it appears as though Chelsea will continue negotiations with Napoli in order to lock up the signing of Koulibaly as soon as possible.
