Chelsea have jumped ahead of Tottenham in the race to sign the highly-rated midfielder, Godfred Donsah, according to Telegraph Sport.
The 19-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough season with Cagliari, notching twenty Serie A appearances and two goals. Ultimately however the season would end in disappointment with Cagliari relegated from Italy’s top division.
As expected, relegation has forced Cagliari into selling some of their most prized assets with the departures of Víctor Ibarbo (Roma), Albin Erdal (Hamburger SV) and Davide Astori (Fiorentina) to name a few.

Now Chelsea are thought to be in pole position for Donsah’s signature but face competition from within Italy according to Cagliari president, Tommaso Giulini.
“We had a chat a few weeks ago with Juventus and Chelsea, but I am stunned by all these rumours around him.”
Yet despite Giulini’s amazement at the rumours surrounding the Ghanian midfielder, Cagliari have recruited to fill the void Donsah will leave should he join Chelsea with the signings of Gianni Munari and Marco Ezio Fossati.
