Jimmy-Jay Morgan Nears West Brom Move As Chelsea Agree Sell-On Clause

Chelsea striker Jimmy-Jay Morgan is reportedly nearing a permanent move to West Bromwich Albion in another academy exit from Stamford Bridge.

According to the Standard, via Inside Futbol, West Brom have agreed a fee worth more than £4million with Chelsea for the 20-year-old forward.

The deal is also expected to include a sizeable sell-on clause, with Chelsea believed to have confidence that Morgan can increase his value in the Championship.

That structure matters. Chelsea are not simply moving on a young forward whose first-team pathway looks blocked. They are trying to protect future upside if his League One form translates at a higher level.

Morgan Exit Underlines Chelsea’s Summer Reset

Morgan impressed on loan at Peterborough United last season, scoring 14 goals during his time at London Road.

For a player yet to make a senior Chelsea appearance, that is exactly the kind of EFL return that creates a market.

ReadChelsea has already covered how Chelsea officially announced several young-player departures this summer, and Morgan’s expected move points in the same direction.

Xabi Alonso’s rebuild is sharpening the difference between prospects to keep and prospects to sell.

If West Brom complete the deal, the sell-on clause is the key detail. Morgan leaving may be understandable, but Chelsea losing every bit of future value would have been much harder to accept.
