Chelsea fans are not happy with how the club have been run over the past few years since BlueCo’s takeover in 2022. The performances and results on the pitch have not matched the standards of the club. It is very clear there is need for improvement there.
Of course, when performances are not up to the mark, it often results in a drop in live attendance as well. That is just the nature of the game.
Chelsea have already announced that they are freezing the prices for both season tickets and match-wise seats for the upcoming campaign.
Credit where it is due, that decision has been appreciated by the fans. But more changes have been made to the ticketing process as well, which the supporters need to be aware.
Chelsea announce ticking changes from next season
Chelsea have also introduced some ticketing changes from next season. They have been put out on the club’s official website.
Chelsea have announced that from next season, before accessing or purchasing tickets, supporters over the age of 16 will need to complete an online ID verification.
This is being done to prevent those using false details from accessing tickets. So the aim is to make more seats available to genuine Chelsea supporters.
Also, tickets for Chelsea’s home matches from the 26/27 season will be sold through an application process for the club members. Eligible ones will have a designated window for them to submit an application.
Changes have been made to the loyalty point system as well. It has been decided that they will only be awarded for attending the game and not just through the purchase of tickets.
There is some news for the club’s season ticket holders as well. They will now be required to utilise it for a minimum of 13 Premier League home games.
The Blues will need a big season
All of this is well and good. But ultimately, for a club like Chelsea, nothing is more important than results on the pitch. They simply have not met expectations for the last several years.
The arrival of Xabi Alonso has raised hopes. There is going to be some excitement amongst the match-going crowd at the start of the new campaign for sure.
But it won’t take long for that to evaporate if the results remain the same. BlueCo need to ensure that Alonso is backed properly in the summer transfer window. Otherwise, all of this will be in vain.
