Sarri explains why Kante can’t play as a holding midfielder

Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he does not want N’Golo Kante to play in the holding midfield position because he does not pass the ball quick enough, as reported on Goal.

The arrival of Italian midfielder Jorginho has meant that Kante has been used in a more advanced midfield position by Sarri this season.

The former Napoli manager loves playing with three in midfield and is not prepared to sacrifice Jorginho for Kante. He said:

In that position, I want a player able to move the ball very fast.

This is not the best characteristic of N’Golo. N’Golo is very useful for us, but this one is not his best characteristic.

Several fans and pundits have called for Sarri to drop Jorginho and move Kante back to his best position, where he helped Leicester City and Chelsea to Premier League titles.

The Frenchman is arguably the best defensive midfielder in world football but Sarri is adamant that he will not be effective in that position in the system that he uses.
