Kante close to agreeing new deal with Chelsea

N’Golo Kante is reportedly close to agreeing a bumper new contract to stay at Chelsea, talkSPORT reports.

The Frenchman is believed to be in advanced talks over signing a new £290,000-a-week contract with the Blues, a deal that would see him become the club’s highest-paid player.

The deal in question is believed to be a new 5-year contract for the defensive midfielder who has been sublime since completing his move from Leicester City back in 2016.

According to the Standard, the 27-year-old could put pen-to-paper on his new terms as early as next week.

Kante had been repeatedly linked with big money moves to the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain thanks to his outstanding performances since arriving in England in 2015, but a new deal with the Blues would most likely put much of that speculation to bed.

Kante’s current deal sees him earn £150,000-a-week and lasts until the summer of 2021.
