This summer transfer window is going to be a vital one for Chelsea. The Blues will need to go out and bring in some genuine quality. Otherwise, they risk another poor campaign. And that is the last thing they can afford at this point in time.
Xabi Alonso’s appointment seems like a step in the right direction. But the Spaniard is not a magician. He will need the right tools to make this a success.
So, signing players good enough to meet the expectations of Chelsea fans is important. At the same time, it might be equally important to part ways with those who do not have a future at the club. It looks like the club are on the same page with one such player.
According to BBC Sport, Chelsea and Axel Disasi have agreed that a permanent exit would suit all parties this summer following their latest round of talks.
Chelsea and Disasi agree that permanent exit is the best route
Disasi has been out of Chelsea’s plans for a long time. He spent the first half of the previous campaign frozen out of the first-team squad.
That was followed by a loan move to West Ham United. To be fair, Disasi did well for the Hammers and the expectation was that he would continue there.
Unfortunately, they depended upon their Premier League status. West Ham were relegated and the deal was no longer possible.
So, Disasi finds himself without a clear view of the future once again. Back at Chelsea, where he is not part of the first-team plans. Where will he end up next?
Where could Disasi end up next?
While Disasi might not be viewed as an important player at Chelsea, there is interest in his signature from elsewhere.
The same report from the BBC goes on to state that he is drawing interest from two Premier League clubs and one in Italy.
So, Disasi should not have a tough time finding a new club. But of course, that said team would have to find an agreement with Chelsea.
There are still three years left on Disasi’s contract at Chelsea. They had signed him for a €45 million transfer fee from AS Monaco. But it is hard to imagine that the Blues will even come close to recouping that.
If Chelsea do end up making a realistic demand on the transfer fee though, it is very possible that the long-running Disasi saga will come to an end.
