Chelsea fans won’t like BlueCo’s stance on struggling squad

We are in the fourth season of BlueCo as Chelsea owners. They can no longer be termed as the ‘new ownership’. Unfortunately, the Blues have not made any real progress over that period of time despite heavy investment.

There are fears that the recruitment team have wasted a ton of money, signing youngsters who will never be good enough for Chelsea. The results on the pitch do back up that theory.

Let’s look at the club’s last season during the Roman Abramovich era, the 21/22 campaign. A large part of that was played under uncertainty over the future of the club. Despite that, they finished third in the Premier League, reached the final of both the League Cup and FA Cup, narrowly lost to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter-finals, and won the UEFA Super Cup and the previous iteration of the FIFA Club World Cup.

Nobody would consider that season to be Chelsea’s best. Yet, have they had even one as good as that under the BlueCo ownership? The answer is no. It is very clear that things need to change. But it looks like the ownership might be reluctant to agree.

BlueCo’s stance on the current Chelsea squad

Most fans believe that Chelsea need to sign more experienced and proven players to complement their youngsters. But according to a report from The Sun: “The line from the BlueCo ownership and their sporting director/recruitment bosses is this group of Blues players can and will grow old and win big together.”

So, it looks like BlueCo are keeping faith in their vision. The best-case scenario is for them to be proven right and for things to fall into place. Unfortunately, there is very little evidence to suggest that we are on that path.

Chelsea seem caught up in a never-ending cycle

It does not look like this Chelsea team learns from their mistakes. In many ways, they appear to be caught up in a never-ending cycle.

Liam Rosenior had started well, at least in terms of results, even if the performances had always been shaky. But now, the early lustre seems to have worn off. And the issues of the past are rearing their heads again.

Chelsea continue to make the same mistakes that have led to their downfall over the past several seasons. They can’t finish off the chances they create. They do not look creative enough against teams willing to sit back and defend. They have disciplinary issues, and often see players sent off. And they constantly drop points from winning positions, far too often at home.

All of this had combined to spell the end of Enzo Maresca’s time as Chelsea manager. And if Rosenior is not careful, the same might happen to him eventually.

There are those who feel that the easy solution would be to bring in some much-needed experience to help guide these youngsters. But is the ownership willing to accept that their strategy is not working and change direction? That is the big question right now.
