Petr Kellner set to hold Chelsea takeover talks with Roman Abramovich

The Czech Republic’s richest man, Petr Kellner, is set to hold talks with Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich about a possible partial takeover of the club, according to a report from Czech news outlet Tyden.

Abramovich, who purchased Chelsea in 2003 and subsequently helped build them into one of Europe’s most successful clubs, is interested in selling a minority stake in the club in order to release news funds.

Kellner, as it so happens, is looking to invest in the Premier League and is said to be interested in buying a small stake in the Blues.

Tyden report that initial discussions will be held between Kellner and Abramovich ‘in the coming days’.

Kellner, who is listed as the world’s 88th richest man by Forbes, made his £10.2billion fortune from his various banking and insurance businesses in the Czech Republic.

Abramovich is not said to be interested in a full sale of Chelsea at this time.
