Sergi Roberto to reject Chelsea and stay at Barcelona

Sergi Roberto is intending to stay at Barcelona for the upcoming season, despite interest in the Spanish international from Chelsea and Manchester United, the Metro reports.

Robert has a £36million buy-out clause in his contract and was said to be considering his future at Barcelona after the arrival of Paulinho from Guangzhou Evergrande.

However, Roberto was a regular feature for Barcelona last season and insists that he is happy at the Catalan club and wants to remain at the Nou Camp.

Roberto scored the second goal in Barcelona’s 2-0 victory over Real Betis on Sunday, and speaking after the victory, Roberto said:

In pre-season I wasn’t starting, but now in the official matches I am playing more. I want to continue here and continue like this.

Barcelona head coach Ernesto Valverde believes that Roberto is an influential part of the Barcelona dressing room and insists that the 25-year-old is a part of his plans.

Antonio Conte is so far frustrated about the lack of transfers coming into Chelsea and has ordered the club to get at least three more deals done this summer, with Roberto high on his list of transfer targets.

Manchester United are also on the lookout for more summer signings and are reportedly showing an interest in the Spanish international.
