We recently spoke to Scott, who you may know as ChelseaHQ. He explained to us his reasons behind starting his very successful ChelseaHQ Twitter account.
As well as giving his opinions on the possible arrivals at Chelsea. This is what he had to say:
Hi Scott, thank you for joining us here today, could you please tell our readers a little more about your affiliation with Chelsea and how you became a fan?
Thank you so much for having me! Long story short, I started watching Chelsea at a very young age – long before Mr Abramovich turned up at Stamford Bridge – and fell in love with the club straight away.
What was your inspiration behind starting ChelseaHQ?
I thought it was the best way to voice my opinion and to keep fellow Blues updated on everything related to Chelsea.
I never thought the account would grow that big and I feel kind of responsible to provide my followers with the best content which I intend to do for as long as I can.
Do you have any plans to take the account further?
Well, I’m currently working on a website to go with the Twitter account. I don’t want to reveal too much, but I’m hoping to launch it before the start of the 2015/2016 season. Stay tuned!
Chelsea enjoyed a great 2014/15 season, looking back on it now, how would you rate it?
Winning the Premier League was my personal priority before the start of the season and I’m glad we managed to bring the trophy back to Stamford Bridge in style.
We could have done a lot better in Europe but winning the Champions League was never a realistic target for me.
Two domestic trophies is a great achievement and I would rate our season 8/10.
Was there a particular highlight or favourite game?
The season as a whole was very enjoyable, but beating Spurs at Wembley was amazing – especially after what they did to us on New Year’s Day.
The transfer window is now open and rumours are in full swing, who would you like to see arrive at Stamford Bridge?
I really think Arda Turan would bring something different to our squad. He’s a really hard-working midfielder who was key to Atlético Madrid’s success in recent years.
His team-mate Antoine Griezmann would also be a marquee signing, but personally I can’t see a move happening this summer.
Asmir Begovic seems to be the favourite to succeed Petr Cech as Thibaut Courtois’ number two and I would be more than happy to welcome him at Chelsea.
If you could add one former player to the current Chelsea side, who would you pick and why?
Looking at our current side and the positions we could improve, it would have to be Arjen Robben.
Just imagine having Eden Hazard on the left and the Dutchman on our right, I think that’s what you would call frightening. It’s a big shame that injuries hindered his progress at Chelsea, but right now he’s right up there with the best players in the world.
Do you think Falcao will be a good acquisition for Chelsea?
I certainly wouldn’t have him as my first-choice striker, but I’m fully backing this transfer.
What people seem to forget is that we’ve only signed him on loan. If it doesn’t work out for him, we can always say goodbye at the end of the season.
I’m fairly confident he will do much better here than he did at Manchester United.
With teams around us strengthening, are we are risk of standing still in the market?
There seems to be a bit of an overreaction at the moment. The transfer window officially opened just a week ago and people are already panicking.
Jose Mourinho made some interesting comments back in May, where he said that his main objective was to keep his best players in the summer. To me that sounded like he was very happy with his squad and that he wasn’t looking to bring in any big names this summer.
Our rivals may be in the process of spending millions of pounds on new players, but they will need time to settle – time they won’t have if we start strongly again next season.
A minority of Chelsea fans reacted badly to Petr Cech’s move to Arsenal, what was your reaction to the move?
Some of the messages and tweets I saw were absolutely disgusting, but I know that most of them were sent by trolls. What really disappointed me was the owner’s decision to allow this move to happen, despite the manager’s protests.
I will always be thankful for what Petr Cech did for Chelsea and I think he deserves a warm welcome when he returns to Stamford Bridge next season.
Last seasons’ Champions League exit was disappointing, are you expecting better things from us next season?
Things can only improve in Europe next season. Barcelona look unstoppable at the moment which makes it hard to win the competition, but I certainly think we’re capable of reaching a semi-final or final.
Is there one player in particular you will be looking forward to seeing next season?
If he stays at Chelsea, I’m looking forward to seeing a fully fit Oscar.
The Brazilian hasn’t had a full pre-season in years and I think he will surprise many people next season. At his best, he’s up there with the best midfielders in the world and let’s not forget he’s just 23.
A massive thank you to Scott for taking his time to answer our questions! If you haven’t already, follow him on Twitter @Chelsea_HQ.
