One of the biggest conundrums facing Chelsea at the moment is who they should choose to play in goal.
For me, Kepa has been disappointing and ever since his refusal to leave the pitch in last year’s League Cup final, I have never really been in his corner.
In the weekend draw with Leicester, Willy Caballero was his usual enigmatic self with some great moments mixed in with his walk-about moment, which pretty much cost the Blues a goal.
Chelsea can’t sign a new goalkeeper with the transfer window shut, but there is another goalkeeping option already within the club.
If Frank Lampard and the club are really going to embrace the youth movement, how about giving England U19 star Jamie Cumming an opportunity?
If you look around the league, there are plenty of young goalkeepers being given their chance and if Reece James is ready at 19 then why can’t Cumming be given a chance to shine?
If Frank Lampard isn’t happy to pick Kepa, his other choices are 38-year-old Caballero or 19-year-old Jamie Cumming.
I know where my thoughts lie and could Cumming have done much worse over the last few games than the two other keepers that have been used?
I really don’t think so.
It’s time for him to be given a chance and if he succeeds, he could save Cheslea a fortune in transfer fees.
