Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante has been on a “downward spiral” in what seems to be a consecutive run of serious injury issues.
That is according to injury expert Ben Dinnery, who claims that the France international’s career is on pause due to several serious setbacks, which has led to Chelsea being unable to count on him frequently, despite the fact that he was an “ever-present” asset in the engine room when he was fit.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, Dinnery said: “N’Golo Kante used to be an ever-present. I think it was the Europa League tie, in 2019/20, where he picked up that knee problem. Really, since that point, his career has been on a bit of a downward spiral in terms of appearances and injuries. He’s suffered several sort of serious setbacks since.”
Career ending?
From a Chelsea standpoint, the club may be against wanting to persevere with Kante’s inconsistency.
And with his contract set to expire next summer, his list of woes could prove to be a career-ender, at least in regards to his future at Stamford Bridge.
As per Fabrizio Romano, it is said that the 31-year-old remains happy in London, but because of his age and torrid injury history of recent, negotiations to renew terms will not come easy.
It remains to be seen as to whether Kante will get a new contract in SW6.
You get the gist that a player of his defensive nous in the central areas would suit Graham Potter’s system down to a tee.
The question is not around his ability though, it’s around his ability to stay fit for an extended period of time.
