Chelsea have received a big boost over one of their transfer targets ahead of the January transfer window.
That is according to esteemed transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, who took to Twitter to issue the update.
Dynamo Moscow midfielder Arsen Zakharyan is the player in question, with Romano stating that the 19-year-old is one of the players that the club wanted to sign in the summer.
Taking to his personal Twitter page, Romano said: “Chelsea remain interested in signing Arsen Zakharyan. He’s one of the players they wanted in the summer and they are still rating Dynamo Moscow star as one of the talents for present and future.
“Zakharyan has been very clear: ‘I only want to join Chelsea‘.”
A transfer plea
Romano’s latest update surrounding Chelsea bodes entirely well for the hierarchy’s hopes of signing the young Russian midfielder.
You can see exactly why the £12.6million gem is so appealing to Todd Boehly and co.
Zakharyan’s effort’s in the Russian Premier League last season saw him return 13 attacking contributions for his side in the form of seven goals and six assists.
This season, he is continuing his consistent upwards trajectory and currently sits on two goals and five assists from 14 appearances.
To top it all off, the number-47-wearing asset is versatile and can play anywhere across the advanced positions, despite his primary position being in central midfield.
He’s of the right age and potential to fit nicely into Boehly’s ‘top talents’ strategy, so with the youngster also sharing the desire to make a switch to SW6, this is a move that is more than on the cards.
