Plenty of Chelsea fans can’t contain their excitement on social media after Ruben Loftus-Cheek shared a photo suggesting a return is just around the corner.
The 24-year-old midfielder played 60 minutes in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Brentford B at Cobham on Tuesday, revealing this picture later that evening:

Loftus-Cheek has been sidelined with an Achilles tendon rupture since featuring in Chelsea’s 3-0 win over New England Revolution in May, nine months ago.
Frank Lampard’s current midfield options are strong, with Jorginho, N’Golo Kante and Mason Mount making up his preferred midfield trio this season.
There is also Mateo Kovacic and Ross Barkley to bring in amongst what is probably the club’s strongest position at the moment.
Loftus-Cheek only strengthens the options in the middle of the park, after making 24 Premier League appearances last season in what was a breakthrough campaign under Maurizio Sarri.
