Chelsea have announced that Frank Lampard is the club’s new manager, signing a three-year deal with the club.
Lampard has joined the Blues following a good year in charge of Championship side Derby County, as he led them to the play-off final at Wembley – only to lose 2-1 to Aston Villa on the day.
The Chelsea legend now takes over at Stamford Bridge, perhaps earlier in his career than most were expecting him to, having only been a manager for one season.
Chelsea needed to replace Maurizio Sarri after the Italian moved back to his home country to join Juventus – with Lampard swiftly taking over.
Despite a good season on paper for Chelsea – with a third-placed finish and a Europa League title – Lampard faces a number of problems this summer going into the next campaign.
