Reported Chelsea managerial target Max Allegri has officially ruled himself out of the running to replace Maurizio Sarri, who appears likely to shortly join Juventus.

The Italian coach, who recently left Juventus following the conclusion of the season, was tipped to replace Sarri who appears bound to succeed Allegri in Turin.

However, as reported by BBC Sport, Allegri intends to take a year away from football in order to recharge, thereby ruling him out of the race to take the reins at Stamford Bridge.

The 51-year old, who won the Serie A title in each of his five seasons with Juve, said:

I’m going to take a year off to recharge the batteries and take my personal life back in hand.

The last 16 years have felt like being in a spin-dryer.

With Allegri no longer in the race, Frank Lampard appears to be the clear favourite to replace Sarri in the hot-seat.
