Chelsea open Lampard talks as they prepare for Sarri’s departure

Chelsea have reportedly opened talks with Frank Lampard regarding the managerial role at Stamford Bridge.

According to Goal, Chelsea bosses have held talks with the club’s former midfielder as he continues to emerge as the front runner for the job.

An official announcement regarding Sarri’s future is expected in the coming days, with it looking increasingly likely that he will be the man that replaces Massimo Allegri in Turin.

The report claims that both clubs could make an announcement in the coming days as they both aim to have their managerial decisions resolved by the end of the week.

Ajax boss Erik ten Hag, who earned plenty of admirers last season, is said to be in the running but he is not so keen on taking over with the transfer ban looming over the club.

Lampard has been the overriding favourite among Chelsea supporters after a disappointing season under Sarri at Stamford Bridge.
