Kalas closing in on permanent move to Bristol City

Chelsea loanee Tomas Kalas is edging towards a move away from Stamford Bridge this summer, with Bristol City close to securing a permanent deal for the defender.

Kalas spent last season on loan with the Robins, making 41 appearances in all competitions, as City narrowly missed out on a place in the play-off spots.

The Championship side are said to be keen on signing the 26-year-old on a permanent basis this summer, and according to Bristol Post, are close to agreeing a deal with Chelsea.

The Czech Republic international signed for the Blues for a fee in the region of €6million in 2010, but has made just four senior appearances for Chelsea since his move from SK Sigma Olomouc.

Kalas is clearly surplus to requirements at Stamford Bridge, and is reportedly within the Robins’ transfer budget for this summer.

City could have to act quickly to sign the defender, however, with the report suggesting interest in the 26-year-old is high.
