Willy Caballero signs Chelsea contract extension

Chelsea have confirmed that Willy Caballero will remain at Stamford Bridge for the 2019/20 season.

As reported by the club, the player puts pen to paper to end any rumours about his future.

West Ham had been linked with a move for the ex-Manchester City, who was originally out of contract this summer.

Caballero, a popular figure behind the scenes, has proved a worthy back-up to Kepa this season.

While he has found game time hard to come by at Chelsea, he was brought into the starting XI earlier this season after the incident involving Kepa and Maurizio Sarri during the Carabao Cup final at Wembley.

The 37-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions this season, two coming in the Premier League, two in the League Cup and the same number in both the Europa League and FA Cup.

While that may not increase next season, Chelsea have always enjoyed keeping experienced goalkeepers in their ranks.
