Chelsea target Abdoulaye Doucoure has insisted that he wants to keep playing his football in England.
This will come as a boost to the Blues, who have been linked with a move for the midfielder in the past.
Doucoure had appeared to be a target for Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint-Germain and was seemingly close to a move, but he seems to have ruled that out with his recent comments.
In an interview with L’Equipe, as cited by TEAMtalk, Doucoure insisted he would be happy to stay at Watford, but he is open to whatever happens this summer.
He said:
I don’t have in mind to want to go to PSG at any particular price. I would like to stay in the Premier League, I think it’s the best place to express my qualities as a player. From there it depends on the offers and many other things, I am very open.
If something happens then so be it, otherwise I’ll be happy with Watford’s jersey. I gave everything for three seasons, and if I stay one more season, I’ll be happy, and if I leave I’ll be happy too. Everyone knows what I want, but it may not necessarily happen as I wish.
The Frenchman has put in some stellar performances for Watford this season, as he has scored five and assisted six from his 35 Premier League appearances.
He has been a key part of a Hornets side that has enjoyed a great season. They secured an 11th-place finish and a spot in Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City.
Given his impressive performances, it was only a matter of time before the top clubs began vying for Doucoure’s signature.
