City join race for Chelsea target Joao Felix

Manchester City are the latest side showing an interest in Chelsea target Joao Felix, according to Sky Sports.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder has enjoyed a phenomenal breakthrough season with Benfica scoring 18 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

Felix, who has been capped by Portugal up to Under 21 level, can play anywhere behind the striker and has mainly been used as a number 10 in the Portuguese Primeira.

As a result of Felix’s impressive individual campaign, numerous clubs around Europe are reportedly monitoring the teenager’s services, including Chelsea, who scouted the player back in March.

The report suggests that City see Felix as a long-term successor to David Silva, who enters the final year of his contract at the Etihad Stadium next season.

Chelsea may well make a move for the player this summer, however, the Blues will have to wait and see if they are eligible to bring players to Stamford Bridge this summer following their appeal over a two-window transfer ban.
