Manchester United are eyeing a move for Chelsea’s highly rated youngster Reece James, following his standout season on loan with Wigan.
The 19-year-old was recently named in the Championship Team of the Season after impressing during his loan from Chelsea, and according to the Independent, Manchester United have identified James as a potential replacement for ageing full backs Ashley Young and Antonio Valencia.
Many Blues fans have called for the versatile defender to be given a chance to impress in the first team next season, and Chelsea are said to been keen on keeping the youngster at the club.
According to the Independent’s report, however, United are hopeful that James’ sister Lauren could tempt him into a move to Old Trafford, with his 17-year-old sibling a key member of their Women’s Championship side.
James, who is also capable of playing in central defence and central midfield, signed a four-year deal with the Blues prior to this season and is one of a number of exciting prospects to have come through Chelsea’s academy in recent years.
