Chelsea returned to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday with a narrow 2-1 victory away to relegation threatened Cardiff City.
Two late headers from captain Cesar Azpilicueta and substitute Ruben Loftus-Cheek won the game for Maurizio Sarri’s side, in what was a controversial afternoon in South Wales.
Cardiff should have been awarded a first half penalty when Marcos Alonso hauled Sean Morrison down in the area, while Azpilicueta’s equaliser was allowed to stand despite the defender standing in a clear offside position.
Antonio Rudiger was fortunate to not receive a red card prior to Chelsea’s winner, after the Germany international brought Kenneth Zohore down with the Bluebirds striker through on goal.
Four minutes later, Loftus-Cheek produced a fine headed finish to complete the turnaround and give the Blues victory to maintain their push for a top four finish.
