Monchi has shortlisted long-term Chelsea target Daniele Rugani as one of the first five signings he would like to make at Arsenal.
According to Sport Mediaset, the Juventus defender is wanted at the Emirates, with Monchi failing in a bid to sign the player for Roma.
The transfer guru is expected to be confirmed at Arsenal before the end of the season of the season after leaving the Italian side.
Known for his ability to spot talent as well as negotiate a deal, Monchi has already got his eyes on five different players, according to the report.
Rugani was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea over the summer, having fallen out of favour at Juventus.
