Chelsea players will be “fed up” of Hudson-Odoi focus

Chelsea’s players will be “fed up” of the attention being paid to Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to former Blues man Pat Nevin.

Maurizio Sarri’s side crashed to a shock 4-0 defeat away to Bournemouth on Wednesday night.

The Italian’s job is now reportedly hanging by a thread, with his players seemingly not playing for him.

The level of focus aimed at Hudson-Odoi may not be helping, following endless speculation linking the 18-year-old with a move to Bayern Munich.

Speaking to LoveSportRadio, Nevin said it won’t be appreciated by his teammates, considering he has achieved nothing yet:

If you’re [Eden] Hazard, you’ve been at incredible levels.

If you’re Willian, you’ve been in a Brazilian World Cup team. If you’re Pedro, you’ve got Champions League and World Cup medals.

You’re them and you’re looking at this kid who has done the square root of nothing and apparently everything is about him! You’d be fed up with him.

If he gets sold and he gets £35m for Chelsea, I suspect he’s paid back something of what he owes there.

It might not be what Chelsea or any club wants, but if you get £35m for spending a good bit of time developing a player, that’s good business.

I would much, much prefer the lad to stay but I understand he wants games of football.

Chelsea’s woeful night at Dean Court has left them in a precarious position in the top-four battle.

They are now only two points ahead of sixth-place Manchester United, while Arsenal have snuck into fourth on goal difference.

Despite back-to-back cup wins last week, all is not well at Stamford Bridge and victory at home to Huddersfield Town is imperative on Saturday.
