Manchester United appear to have joined Chelsea in the race to sign Ivan Rakitic from Barcelona.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, as cited on Sport Witness, United have added the player to their list of potential targets and are keen to discover what his availability will be at the end of the season.
Rakitic has been heavily linked with moves away from the Nou Camp recently, with Chelsea said to be among the teams keeping an eye on his situation.
While the report adds that Rakitic would prefer to stay at the club, the arrival of Frenkie de Jong from Ajax and the proposed incoming of Adrien Rabiot from Paris Saint-Germain has cast serious doubts over his long-term future at the club.
Rakitic is due to turn 31 later this year and Barcelona appear keen to add some younger, fresher personnel to their midfield options, something that may leave the Croatian cut adrift.
