Chelsea target Gonzalo Higuain has not been included in AC Milan’s squad for their trip to Genoa on Monday, ESPN has reported.
The striker has frequently been linked with a move to Stamford Bridge in the past, and now a deal looks set to be close with Chelsea, who have reportedly agreed a loan deal with Higuain’s parent club Juventus.
The Argentine forward signed for the Old Lady for a Serie A record fee of €90million in 2016, after setting the Italian league alight the previous season with Napoli.
Higuain scored 36 goals playing under current Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri during their time together in Naples, setting a new league record.

The Blues will have the option to either buy Higuain in the summer, or extend his loan deal for another 12 months, ESPN state.
AC Milan boss Genaro Gattuso believes Higuain was not in the right frame of mind to be included in the squad to face Genoa amidst the reports, and revealed the ongoing speculation over a move to Chelsea has had a negative impact on the squad.

The forward joined Milan on loan at the start of the season but has only scored six goals in 15 appearance so far, and is reportedly keen of reuniting with former boss Sarri.
