Fulham manager Claudio Ranieri has thrown his club’s move for Chelsea defender Gary Cahill into doubt, with the Italian claiming he isn’t sure whether Cahill would be up for the relegation battle.
The Cottagers had identified the England international defender as a key transfer target this month, with Ranieri keen to strengthen his defensive options ahead of the looming relegation scrap in the final months of the Premier League season.

Chelsea are believed to be willing to let Cahill leave and aren’t standing in Fulham’s way, however it appears that Cahill’s unwillingness to move to Craven Cottage has held any deal up.
Former Chelsea and Premier League winning coach with Leicester Ranieri had this to say about Cahill, as quoted by Mirror Sport:
Gary is a very important player and for us, it would be fantastic.
But I don’t know if he wants to come and fight with us.
Fulham have struggled defensively this season, despite having invested heavily in reinforcements in the summer. Should the London outfit land Cahill, they will feel a confidence boost that with his experience on side, they could mount a late survival charge.
