Chelsea manager Maurizio Sarri has reassured fans that Eden Hazard is happy at the club, with fans worried his new position could see him seek a move to Real Madrid.
The 27-year old Belgium international has played the last two Premier League games in a false nine position, with Pedro and Willian playing either side to make up Sarri’s trio of ‘fast football’.
Antonio Conte also implemented the same system last season, and Hazard then spoke about his unhappiness to play there.
With Hazard still on Madrid’s radar and with the Belgian entering the final 18 months of his contract, some fans had worried that an unhappy Hazard could force a move away from Stamford Bridge.
However, Sarri insists that his star man is happy to be playing more centrally. As quoted by Football.London, Sarri said:
He told me that he likes very much to play there. So I don’t know. I wasn’t here last season, so I don’t know why Eden told people this. But, at the moment, he likes very much to play there.
There isn’t a ‘best’ position for Hazard. Hazard is a wonderful player with a very high level of imagination. And I think he needs to be let free on the pitch.
So I think there isn’t a ‘right’ position for him. But we need to have a very high level of organisation in ways to his movements.
