Chelsea are attempting to sign Bayern Munich defender Mats Hummels in January.
That’s according to Bild, via the Metro, who believe the 30-year-old would be willing to leave the Bundesliga giants.
Hummels has fallen down the centre-back pecking order at Bayern this season, with Niklas Sule and Jerome Boateng often preferred.
The player’s agent, Marc Kosicke, is rumoured to have flown to London to hold talks with Chelsea, as well as Tottenham.
Hummels still has two years remaining on his current deal, and at 30, Bayern will be aware they can still receive a healthy fee for him.

That may tempt them to allow the Germany international to leave, although his experience may continue to be important moving forward.
Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has a very different view to the reports, saying:
We had a conversation with Mats a few days ago and he will play for Bayern Munich in the second half of the season.
Meanwhile, the club’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic echoed that sentiment:
We talked to Mats, it was a good conversation.
