Chelsea target Wilson staying at Bournemouth, claims Howe

Eddie Howe insists Bournemouth will not be selling Chelsea transfer target Callum Wilson in January.

The Blues have been linked with signing the England striker next month, following the disappointing form of Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.

Wilson was given the chance to audition at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, with Chelsea beating Bournemouth 1-0 in the EFL Cup quarter-finals.

Speaking after the game, Howe praised the performance of one of his key men:

Callum’s our player and very, very focused on us. I think you could see that with his performance.

When asked whether he could see Bournemouth selling Wilson in January, Howe added:

Not from my perspective, no.

It would be a surprise if the Cherries allowed the 26-year-old to move on midway through the season.

Wilson has impressed throughout 2018/19, scoring eight times in the Premier League and also netting on his England debut.

It may be that a summer exit ends up being on the cards – whether Chelsea will still be interested at that point remains to be seen.
