Maurizio Sarri reportedly wants a replacement for Cesc Fabregas signed before he is allowed to leave for Milan in January.
The Italian outfit are stepping up their interest in the Chelsea midfielder after holding talks with the Premier League side.
Corriere dello Sport reports that the Rossoneri are keen to sign the Spaniard in the new year, but Sarri remains sceptical.
The report claims that the Italian would be interested in keeping hold of the player, despite rarely using him in the Premier League this season.

The former Arsenal and Barcelona man has failed to break into Sarri’s plans following the summer signing of Jorginho from Napoli.
Despite having the likes of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Ross Barkley to call upon, Sarri clearly remains keen to add to his squad and ensure Fabregas is replaced.
The Spaniard has been used as a back-up to Jorginho so far this season, with the 31-year-old identified as the closest fit in terms of style of play.
