Both players are out of favour at Stamford Bridge and have been linked with January exits.
With Christensen 11 years Cahill’s junior, it is easy to see why he is the favoured option for Milan.
Cahill has been told that he can leave Chelsea during the January window after failing to break into Maurizio Sarri’s plans.
The club captain has found game time hard to come by with the Italian head coach preferring to use both David Luiz and Antonio Rudiger.
Milan still face a battle to land Christensen, with Chelsea refusing to entertain any January interest in the player.
Chelsea are keen to keep hold of him with Cahill expected to move on in the new year.
