Derby County boss Frank Lampard has expressed his gratitude towards Chelsea following their decision to allow Mason Mount and Fikayo Tomori to play in the two sides’ Carabao Cup clash this month.
The Rams will come up against Lampard’s former club Chelsea in the next round of the cup competition and have been boosted, with Mount and Tomori eligible to feature.
Chelsea granted Derby permission to field the young pair, with both still on the books at Stamford Bridge.
Mount, particularly, has been enjoying an impressive spell away from Chelsea at Pride Park and even earned himself a call-up to the senior England squad during the recent break.

Lampard, as quoted by Derbyshire Live, discussed Chelsea’s decision to allow the duo to feature in the Carabao Cup tie and was thankful to his former club.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Chelsea, their director Marina Granovskaia and manager Maurizio Sarri for allowing Mason and Fikayo to be available for selection for the Carabao Cup tie.
We’ve been in dialogue with Chelsea since the draw was made and it’s great, first and foremost, that the players will have the opportunity to test themselves against a top side.
After progressing to this stage following a dramatic win at Manchester United via a penalty shootout, Lampard and his Derby side will be out to cause an upset against Chelsea.
