Chelsea have made a shock move for former England goalkeeper Rob Green and are already in talks with the player over a short-term contract, the Daily Mail reports.
It is believed that new Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri will look to sign the 38-year-old as the club’s third-choice goalkeeper for the season.
Green spent last season at fellow Premier League side Huddersfield Town but was released at the end of the season having not made a single outing for the Terriers.
Despite not featuring for Huddersfield last campaign, Green would bring with him 658 first team appearances at Premier League and Championship level.
Chelsea are keen to fill their homegrown player quota after allowing Jamal Blackman to join Leeds on loan for the season, and Rob Green would fit the bill.
Thibaut Courtois is looking increasingly likely to depart Stamford Bridge this summer, meaning that Chelsea will also likely be on the hunt for another goalkeeper this summer to provide Willy Caballero with competition for the starting spot in goal.
