Barcelona defender Gerard Pique has told his club to sign Chelsea full-back Marcos Alonso, according to reports in Spain, via the Daily Star.
These reports come following the player’s strong performances against the Catalan club in the Champions League.
Alonso has enjoyed another solid campaign at Chelsea after a brilliant season last year, scoring an incredible seven goals with a further three assists this term.
The former Bolton player seemed to have had a mediocre career at best when he was loaned out by Fiorentina to Sunderland in 2014, but also failed to make much of an impression at the Stadium of Light.

This form meant that it came as quite the surprise when Chelsea snapped up the Spaniard in 2016, but he has impressed ever since and has proved to have an eye for goal, most impressively from his free-kick abilities.
Barcelona currently have Jordi Alba and Lucas Digne in Alonso’s position, so barring a departure from one of Ernesto Valverde‘s left-backs, the 27-year-old is likely to stay put at Stamford Bridge, or at least not leave for Barcelona.
Barca’s arch-rivals Real Madrid have also been monitoring Alonso
