A superb first-half performance saw Chelsea coast through to the next round of the FA Cup, as Hull were comfortably beaten 4-0 at Stamford Bridge on Friday evening.
Willian was in fine form for the Blues, as he has been all season, and he opened his FA Cup account in just the second minute with a terrific curling effort from the edge of the box.
Two goals in the space of five minutes then put the result beyond much doubt, as Pedro slid a Cesc Fabregas pass under David Marshall before Willian added his second with another long-range shot that this time cannoned in off the post.
Just before half time Antonio Conte’s January signings combined to put Chelsea 4-0 up. Emerson Palmieri, starting his first game for Chelsea, skipped past Hull’s defenders before pulling the ball back to Olivier Giroud who nonchalantly flicked the ball into the back of the net for the Frenchman’s first goal for Chelsea.
Chelsea hardly made any attacking advances in the second-half as both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Kyle Scott were introduced for some invaluable game time. Hull had a chance to pull a goal back but Willy Caballero yet again proved to be the difference from the spot as he saved David Meyler’s penalty.
