Chelsea’s move for Edin Dzeko breaks down

Roma striker Edin Dzeko won’t be joining Chelsea this month and will instead finish the season at his current club, as reported by Di Marzio.

There has been talk for a number of weeks now that Chelsea would lure former Manchester City striker Dzeko back to England but this move has broken down after the player wanted more than what the Blues were offering.

Dzeko is having a wonderful season this term, having netted 15 goals in all competitions, including strikes against Chelsea in their Champions League group stage games earlier in the season.

The Blues have been really keen to bring in a target man this month and have been linked with a whole host of players, with Dzeko being the most high profile of these. But, the move has now broken down and Chelsea must look elsewhere.

The London club seem insistent that they need to bring in this kind of player and it could be a deal that could be revisited in the summer when it wouldn’t need to be as rushed as this deal has proven to be.
