Antonio Conte is desperate to add a striker to his squad during the January transfer window and he’s made contact with AS Roma regarding a deal to sign former Manchester City attacker Edin Dzeko, according to Premium Sport.
Dzeko has made a lasting impression on Conte this season, netting twice in a 3-3 draw at Stamford Bridge during the Champions League groups stages which has helped take his tally to 12 goals in 26 appearances so far this season.
The 31-year-old was the top scorer in Serie A last season with 29 goals and fits the bill of what Conte is looking for in a centre-forward this month – a tall, physical striker who can lead the line and be the focal point of the attack.
Conte is also considering moves for strikers closer to home with both West Ham’s Andy Carroll and Crystal Palace’s Christian Benteke both on his shortlist of options.
