Barcelona are reportedly seeing Chelsea’s young defender, Andreas Christensen as a possible signing this January, according to The Mirror.
Ernesto Valverde is trying to make his own squad of young players at Barcelona, shown by the vast number of young signings who joined the Catalan giants last summer.
Defenders such as Javier Mascherano look to be on the way out of the Camp Nou, and so Valverde wants to find a young world-class centre-back, and has reportedly seen Christensen as his target.
Christensen has really fought his way into the Blues’ side this campaign, making 22 appearances in all competitions so far this season. These impressive performances have put him as first-choice now over David Luiz.
Luiz started the season well, featuring in 11 of the first 16 games of the season, and being injured for three of those 16. However, Christensen’s performances have seen him out of the side and the young Dane has taken place and fitted in well.
Christensen has suited in the middle of a back three with defenders either side of him such as Cesar Azpilicueta, Gary Cahill and Antonio Rudiger. And his performances don’t look to be letting him down yet.
So Andreas Christensen has always been a good player with excellent potential, and this season has shown what he is capable of, with his performances being well noted by Antonio Conte, but also by Ernesto Valverde.
