David Luiz was absent from Chelsea’s training session on Monday as the squad built up to the Atletico Madrid game on Wednesday night, reports The Evening Standard.
The Brazilian continues to recover from a knee problem which he sustained in training a couple of weeks ago.
Manager Antonio Conte was last week unsure on when Luiz would return but he did confirm that he has fluid in his knee.
The 30-year-old has been working with medics at the training complex and is set to be sidelined for a length of time which includes the visit of Atletico Madrid to Stamford Bridge.
Luckily, the Blues have plenty of cover in this position, with youngster Andreas Christensen really stepping up and performing well of late to bolster the back line.
Charly Musonda also missed the session as he makes his way back from his respective knee issue.
Conte has no further problems in the squad ahead of the crucial match on Wednesday night.
