Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has made a phone-call to Italian Carlo Ancelotti to discuss a possible return to Stamford Bridge as the Russian looks to beat the competition for the in-demand manager, according to a report on Sport Witness.
Ancelotti is currently out of a job after being sacked by German Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich and Abramovich is keen to hire the man who he fired just six years ago.
Chelsea have not made the best start to the season, which has resulted in an increase of pressure on current boss Antonio Conte, who led the Blues to the Premier League title in his first season in charge last season.

The details of the call are not known, but Ancelotti was present at Stamford Bridge when Chelsea faced AS Roma in the UEFA Champions League group stage draw.
Ancelotti has been pursued by the Italy national team to take over their vacant managerial position but the manager himself is keen to remain in club management, which has given Chelsea hope of getting him.
The 58-year-old has always spoken about how he loved to work in London with the Blues but would it be wise to replace the younger Conte for the ageing Ancelotti?
