According to reports in Spain, Antonio Conte is weighing up a move to bring Villarreal midfielder Manu Trigueros to Stamford Bridge.
With midfield trio N’Golo Kante, Danny Drinkwater and Tiemoue Bakayoko all suffering injury scares in the past month, Conte feels like he needs more midfield numbers in his squad for the second half of the season to really challenge for the title.
Trigueros is thought to be top of Chelsea’s January list. The 26-year-old is known for his performances as a holding midfielder, where he has made 219 for Villarreal since his debut 6 years ago
Despite his impressive individual performances across the past 24 months, Trigueros has never been capped at international level for Spain, however, is still hopeful of forcing his way into the Spanish squad for the World Cup in Russia next summer, and a move to Chelsea in January could increase his chances of doing so.
