Delac confirms desire to leave Chelsea

Matej Delac has confirmed that he is looking to leave Chelsea in the near future.

The Bosnian goalkeeper spoke to SportSport about his future, as cited by Goal, and reiterated his intention to depart the club as he seeks first-team football elsewhere.

Yes, soon will come a time I’ll have to leave Chelsea. Many people ask me do I regret coming to Chelsea so young, and not joining some smaller club, but I feel no regret. Your career can always be better, but I am 25 and have been through so much, met many coaches, players, gained experience.

The problem was not my quality, Chelsea believed in me, extended my contract several times, but the problem was always work permit.

Delac is currently Chelsea’s longest-serving player, but has rarely been involved with the first-team squad since coming into the fold.

The 25-year-old has been on the books at Stamford Bridge for seven years now, and appears to be keen on cutting his time at Chelsea short at the next opportunity.

Delac has encountered many issues during his stint with the Blues. Largely as a result of work permit troubles, he has never been registered to a Premier League squad in London. This has seen him spend the majority of his seven years out on loan.

The January transfer window is fast approaching, and it looks as though Delac is one man on his way out.
