According to the Daily Mail, new Chelsea striker Alvaro Morata turned down Tottenham as he “can’t compete with Harry Kane”.
Tottenham have had a disappointing summer transfer window by signing no players and losing Kyle Walker to Manchester City and also missing out on signing The Blues’ new boy Morata.
On the other hand, Chelsea have had a good transfer window, signing Antonio Rudiger from Roma and Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco, as well as the addition of the Spanish striker from Real Madrid. They also brought in Willy Cabellero on a free transfer after his contract expired at Manchester City.
Chelsea’s spending this summer has totaled around £130m, which is £130m more than Tottenham have spent.

However, Morata was close to signing with Spurs as their manager Mauricio Pochettino confirmed. He said:
Morata said to me, “Why do you want me if you have Harry Kane?” You know, if you go to try to sign a striker, they will say, “Eh gaffer, you want me for what? To be on the bench? Because it’s Harry Kane, I can’t compete with Harry Kane.
There is no doubt that Morata and Kane are great players and the Spaniard deserves first team football, which he doesn’t think he would get ahead of Kane.
